Guardian Rescue

           As of October 1, 2009—we will become a Caucasian Ovcharka ONLY rescue.  We will no longer take in mixes, nor will we accept Central Asians.  This was a very hard decision to make, however we feel it is necessary.  Our passion lies with the CO’s, however we felt compelled to assist with all Ovcharkas. However, we have received little to no support from the CAO enthusiasts. Sadly—we step back and focus only on our Caucasian Ovcharka’s.

           On the upside of things—this will enable us to set up a legal fund, as well as an “emergency” fund—over time.  To allow us to defend these dogs when they find themselves in bad situations, as well as to immediately acquire transport for those that need to move NOW. We will better be able to be there for every Caucasian that needs our help.  This is our goal for the next year—with your help—I know we can achieve it.

Adoption Policies & Procedures

 

Approval Process-

 

             1) Complete an application & submit it by e-mail or fax

                                       *It takes between 24 - 72 hours to get the background & reference checks back

            

             2) A phone interview between you & one of our counselors

 

             3) Home visit

 

 

Adoption Policies-

 

           -Adoption fee $300 - includes the following:

                                       *All of our dogs are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, fecal tested &                  started on obedience prior to placement.

                                                   *Additional Training avail upon request.

 

             -A signed contract is required upon adoption - requiring stringent guidelines to the care & wellbeing of dogs adopted here.  For a copy of the contract - please e-mail us.

 

             -Dogs are placed in the best home for each individual, NOT on a first come/first serve basis. Once you are approved we will happily pair you with a dog, but only the right dog for your family. This may not be the dog you originally contacted us about - please keep an open mind - no one ends up happy with a bad match.

 

             -We DO NOT adopt our dogs to OUTSIDE only homes, with the exception of trained livestock guardians.  Shelter is still required for these types of dogs.

 

             -You must travel here to meet our all of our adult dogs - and most of our puppies. Shipping is available rarely - and only case by case - when available, the cost of crate, health certificate, transport to airport & flight is yours.

 

             -We DO adopt out of state & even out of country - however there are additional requirements. They are as follows:

                                                   *It is your responsibility to cover costs to return the dog to us if you ever cannot keep

                 the dog in your home.              

                                                   *You must travel here to meet all adult dogs, and most of our puppies.  Non-smokers

                 may stay here at the ranch, or you may stay at the local motel.

                                                   *For a small fee (to cover gas) - we will be happy to pick you up at Saint Louis  airport

                 with advanced notice.

Update on adoption procedures - effective May 1, 2009

 

Due to the increase in potential adopters submitting an application, getting approved, committing to a dog and then backing out - or simply not showing up, we are imposing the below requirements.  These new requirements are in place to cover our costs that “shoppers” are costing us, please keep in mind these are living creatures in need of a home, this is not QVC.  Each time that we hold a dog for an “approved” home, and turn down others, just to have that “approved” home not show up - that poor dog sits here even longer when he/she could have been in a home that actually wanted him/her.  We are no longer going to permit this to continue. 

 

**A $25 processing fee must be sent before application will be “processed” - either by paypal or mail.

           This is for the background & reference checks - applications may be submitted, and after initial review - to determine if you are a likely candidate for one of our dogs - you will be contacted to submit the $25 fee prior to our completing your application by running our checks.

                          

**All additional fees pertaining to travel - crates/health certificates, etc - must be paid for in advance - either directly to the veterinarian/store, or to us ahead of purchase.

 

**Dogs will not be considered “adopted” until the adoption fee is Paid In Full, this is NOT REFUNDABLE, should you not show up or choose not to adopt after committing to the dog - you forfeit the adoption fee to assist with the care of the dog while we again search for a new home.  Dogs will no longer be held pending adoption. (This section does not apply should an adopter arrive and the dog/adopter simply do not get along - it is for those that simply waste our time and cost the dogs other potential homes).
